What is the Alexander Technique?

In Alexander Technique classes, you get to know yourself and your body better. You deepen your understanding of how your thinking and movement go together. You become aware of your posture, movement and reaction patterns. You learn to avoid unnecessary tension. You experience how to move more fluidly and with greater ease.

Practical information


Introductory lesson

Not sure yet if the Alexander Technique is for you? No worries, in the first lesson we will take the time to discuss your questions and motivation, and you will get a first experience in how an Alexander Technique lesson works. Based on that, you can decide whether to take further lessons.


How many lessons do I need?

How many lessons you need is individual, but to gain a basic understanding of the Alexander Technique, a minimum of 10 lessons is recommended.


How long does a lesson take?

A class lasts 45 minutes to an hour.


How much does a lesson cost?

The first introductory lesson lasts a little longer and costs 60 euros. After that, lessons cost 45 euros.


Do I need to wear specific clothing?

No, comfortable clothing is recommended. We work on stockings or bare feet.


Do I need to practice at home?

You will not be given exercises to take home, but you will be given a way to approach your daily and/or professional activities with greater focus.

Annelies Flamand

Annelies Flamand holds a Master's degree in Pedagogical Sciences. In addition to her work as an educational supervisor at Catholic Education Flanders, Annelies has been immersing herself in the Alexander Technique since 2018. 

She certified in 2023 as an Alexander Technique Teacher at Alexander Technique International, having completed a basic and teacher training with Dirk Van de Velde. . She also earned certificates from in-depth training programs, including with the Dimon Institute in New York, The Developing Self in London, and the international expert groups Alexander Technique Science and Posture Underground led by Tim Cacciatore, Rajal Cohen and Patrick Johnson, among others.

From her years of expertise in the educational and pedagogical sector, Annelies develops her own translation of the Alexander Technique to children and adolescents.​​

Annelies is a passionate amateur violinist and uses that experience to apply the Alexander Technique to various aspects of being a musician.
